Week 6 Potty Training Diary!

I can hardly believe my boy has been using the potty for the past 6 weeks already. I am sure anyone who reads this is probably bored by it, wondering, when will she stop already? Probably once the baby comes.....then it will just be a monthly update :)

This past week we have accomplished our potty goal of going poop 3x in the potty so we can now celebrate at Chuck E Cheese! Woohoo! Caleb still does not always want to try, he will say, "Its too hard." I try and place him on the potty at possible go times and thankfully we have had 2 successes this past week! We smother him with praise and let him know how proud we are of him. He too likes to hand out the praise by copying our actions of giving us hugs and kisses and pats on the back for doing a good job! Its so sweet. This past Thursday I did not have a surprise on hand so we took a quick trip over to CVS so he could pick out a prize. I talked him into a gardening kit so he could help Daddy water the vegetable garden. He dragged me up to the counter saying, "Come on Mama. We have to pay for it. Come on." At least he knows we pay for things and don't shoplift! Once we got home he had to water the garden with Daddy. It made him so happy!

Nana gave us a great idea to have a treasure chest of prizes for Caleb to choose from each time he goes poop in the potty. A good motivational idea so Kerry took a trip to the dollar store to pick up a few items like a bug kit, sidewalk chalk, elephant, giraffe, cars stickers. We showed it to Caleb so he would know what was awaiting him. He kept asking to see it, but we had to make it clear that he does not get to pick anything out until he goes poop on the potty. Yesterday he asked to go so we placed him on there and about 20 minutes later you hear him proclaim, "I did it!" as he points his finger in the potty for us to see! He chose the bug kit and wanted to look for creatures immediately!

Today we pooped in our pants. We are going to have those days. I can only hope for success every day but its not guaranteed. He is still not asking to go potty, we just take him and every time he goes. I thought we would have gotten to that stage at this point, but not yet and its okay. We mostly have dry naps now which is great, so I am down to a pull up a day at night time. Woohoo!
