Some of you might be wondering from my previous posts how the Toddler Bed transition has played out. Are we still having issues? No. I am proud to say we have conquered yet another milestone. This one took longer than expected, but I am so happy we have finally settled back into our routine.
We discovered that leaving Caleb's night light on all night was key. He was waking up and probably scared of the dark and wanted to feel safe with Mommy and Daddy. This typically happens around age 2. Kerry also decided to leave his door closed rather than cracked so if he did wake up, he couldn't leave his room. Both of these tactics have worked brilliantly and we have had no early wakings or nighttime visitors! Yeah!
Naps have also gotten back into routine. I can't say we are always 7 for 7, but for the most part, he takes at least 5 a week which I am thankful for. If not, he quietly plays in his room so I can have a break and rest time too if needed. I have learned that putting him down closer to 2 has done the trick, by that time he is ready for a nap!
Having a peaceful night sleep again has been wonderful. His stalling techniques at bedtime have also gotten shorter because we don't give in to his countless requests any longer. He may cry for a few minutes, but eventually settles down!
