To think that my baby is 2 months away from turning 1 is shocking and a little bit sad. How has time flown by so quickly? His little hands clapping every time I get him from a nap or those sweet little feet kicking about when I change his diaper are growing so fast! This past month has become the joy of standing, so much so that I created a song about it. "Look at me, I am standing so big, I am so tall, I am standing, all on my own. I am so big, so tall and so strong, I am standing, all on my own." and his face lights up when I sing that little tune. He might just bypass crawling as he screams every time I put him on his belly. He can scoot a bit on his bottom, but not much more! Caleb started crawling at 10.5 months and Kieran is far from it. He likes to stand so much he will lock his legs if I try and sit him down. He has not began cruising yet, just content standing at a table or on his walker and his face just glows because he is so proud of himself! This month he has also began saying "Dadadadadada" and shortly after "Mamamamamamama" and that is usually when he is eating, so it may be "mmmmmmm" but he has gotten picky again so I am not sure if he is over what I have been making for him or just ready to self feed as he seems to enjoy that more. Just another reminder of how fast he is growing....already tired of spoon feedings!
Caleb continues to love him with so much excitement and Kieran returns that same joy when he sees his big brother. He has gotten back into wanting to help with diaper changes and gets disappointed if I have already tossed it in the bin without him. He likes to share his puffs as well as suck on a mango cube if Kieran is having some mango for lunch. Would you like a broccoli cube I ask? No thanks.
Kieran loves to play peek a boo and Caleb loves to play hide and seek, but he will tell you where to hide or be so noisy hiding that he can be easily found. Now that the weather is nice we have been back to taking our daily walks along the trail. I have a sit and stand and Caleb refers to it as the bus. He will get on and off at various stops he has created and his favorite game is running after the bus. Once he is on, he likes to get right off and repeat the cycle. Hey, whatever makes you happy right?
Kerry and I have really found much joy and blessing in watching Caleb grow and become a little man. We sometimes ask him to stop growing. He says the funniest things sometimes that crack us up and make us wonder where on earth it came from. Rather than learn a kid's name at church, he will call them by their shirt color, "Hey blue guy, or hey blue stripey guy!" On one of our walks this past week he exclaimed, "Jesus is watching me play in His pine cones!" After playing in the rain and helping Caleb find wormies, "Your the best worm finder Mom!" He just got a haircut recently so he is into spikey hair. Kerry is the only one who can make it and then Caleb loves to touch it with his hands. "I don't want the wind to mess up my spikey hair." He is very protective of it.
We love, love, love our boys and are reminded of their blessing each day. See ya next month!
