Why I like age 2

Age two has got to be one of the best and worst ages. Best, because your baby suddenly turns into this talking machine who can have conversations with you and communicate their needs and wants rather well. Worst because of fits and tantrums that everyone warns about. Not a day goes by that I am not amused by something Caleb says or does. He is a funny kid to have around!

He loves to smell flowers, real or fake. Enjoys picking dandelions and having me blow on them so he can do a dandelion dance.

Loves to take walks on our trails by the river so he can throw rocks or sticks or near the pine cone trees, but has never once picked a pine cone to take home. Just likes to visit them up the road. Checks mostly every tree for a bird's nest and enjoys using his binoculars to see things up close!

If there is a puddle to splash in, he is all over it.

He LOVES dinosaurs, trains, trucks and cars.

His favorite show is Charlie & Lola thanks to my introduction of it, he has not grown tired of it yet! Will ask to watch certain episodes I have on the DVR.

One of his favorite questions to ask all throughout the day is, "What are you doing? What is that doing? Whether it be a bug, plant, car, piece of dirt, rock, wormy, his feet, etc. "What are my feet doing?" What is that bug doing?" He has a desire to learn so I can't blame him. I guess when he asks the same question repeatedly and I give him the same answer repeatedly it can get a little tiring...but that is the joy of a 2 year old!

Caleb smelled Speedy's feet (one of my favorite smells is puppy feet) and says, "That smells good."

I told Caleb we would go to the museum one day and he exclaims, "Woohoo! I love the museum! I love dinosaurs, balls and hula hoops!"

"Let's play dinosaurs Seaby dog."

Rubbing my belly he says, "I wait for it."

"Let's sit on the couch and share some cocoa Momma." Who can resist that kind of request?

"That truck is dirty. It needs to go to the car wash."

I ask Caleb for a kiss. "Sorry. I'm playing cars."

When he wants to see baby, he lifts up my shirt. "I want to see it."

"Please need super powers."

Caleb wanted some of my pulpy OJ one morning. "It has feathers in it." I told him it was pulp. " I need pulp now!"

Caleb stands at bedroom door one night and shouts out to Kerry, "Please need drink in here!" This has become a nightly ritual if we have not already brought it in the room!

Pretending to be a frog by squatting and jumping on trail. Saying ribbit and sticking out his tongue to catch flies.

He fell in pond while fishing with Kerry. He has such a sad face in the tubby and tells me, "I fell in the pond. I not fall in the pond anymore."

I asked Caleb if he needed anything at the store. "Tomatoes, strawberries and donuts." Things I previously mentioned I was out of. What a memory this kid has!

Caleb didn't want to go to the post office the other day so he surprised me with this comment. "We can't go. It's closed." Nice try buddy.

Getting Caleb up from naps now is not easy. The other day I said, "Caleb, its time to wake up." "I'm still sleeping." and he puts his head back down. Once he is up, he walks out onto the patio with his hands covering his ears. "What's that terrible noise?" It was geese honking in our yard!

He is also quirky about certain things in his room during nap and bedtime. I recently got him a dinosaur measuring chart that hangs in his room that MUST come down while he sleeps. Sometimes its a car left in his room or a pair of pants on the chair. He cannot keep his water in his room either. It has to go back in the fridge. "Stick it in the fridge." Library books cannot be in his room either, they belong in the living room. Its quirky, but funny behavior, possibly all stalling techniques, but nevertheless, funny characteristics of my 2 year old!

That is so sweet Robin! Thanks for sharing. It's fun to hear about what you guys are up to even though we are far apart!
