I have been watching one of the most "innovative forms of birth control" on tv Wednesday nights, The Baby Borrowers. 5 diverse teenage couples, ages 18-20 are on the fast-track to adulthood by setting up a home, getting a job and becoming caring parents first to babies, toddlers, pre-teens and their pets, teenagers and senior citizens -- all over the course of 3 weeks. Through this emotional, dramatic journey, each young couple will get a unique opportunity to peer into the future and see what they might be like if they remain together and decide to build a family.
Tonight, 1 guy walked out on the experiment, breaking up with his girlfriend and leaving her to finish the experiment as a single mom. As sad as it was, I loved it! This show has shed tremendous light on many relationships that are unhealthy and far from being ready for marriage and parenting. Why didn't they think of this idea sooner?
Although I am not fond of these teen couples sharing a bed in front of America, they are able to get a real taste of marriage and parenting. It is amazing how much this experiment has revealed to each couple in such a short amount of time.
Kudos to the UK for creating yet another great show in the US!
