Take Two!

I can hardly believe 4 weeks have passed since Kieran arrived. I have survived on an average of 5 hours of sleep since that day and going strong! Its amazing how God wires us Moms to do our job of caring and nurturing our little ones no matter the amount of rest we may get. There are times at 2am where all I want to do is sleep, but I still have the energy to cuddle or feed my precious bundle in his time of need. I wonder how will I survive the next day with so little sleep, but I have yet to have any problems and I do not get it. I am still not drinking caffeine either!

I was a bit unsure of how Caleb would react once the baby arrived. I have to say we had some struggles that first week home with acting out and tantrums, but over the past few weeks, they have resolved and he has been a loving big brother and helper to me. Caleb loves to hold and kiss him, give him his binky or sing to him if he cries. He did like to warm up the wipes for a diaper change by rolling them in his hands like Nana showed him, but now he is not so interested. Kieran is not much into his binky though. Spits it right out or knocks it out with his hands. Smart little fellow, but sometimes I wish he would enjoy it. Oh well, it will save me the hassle later on when I have to take it away I guess!

We have made it out of the house nearly every day on an outing to keep Caleb entertained and to get some fresh air. I did dread this because I wasn't sure I could handle two kids out and about as one is sometimes difficult! How would they both fit in a cart if I had shopping to do? Would Caleb behave or act out? What do I do if Caleb has to go potty? So many concerns, yet they have been easier than I thought. Caleb has really impressed me by listening and staying nearby. He likes to help push the stroller and is always looking out for Kieran. "Where is Kieran? What is he doing? Don't worry baby Kieran."

These past 4 weeks have been tiring, but I know the first 6 are the hardest. Kieran is a great baby. I almost want to say a bit more calm than what I remember of Caleb. He does like to be held when fussy, but what baby doesn't? He is following our routine so well already and I didn't even attempt it with Caleb til 8 weeks. I am hoping to get some sounder sleep here by month 2...we shall see!
