Maybe I shouldn't rejoice too soon, but after my breaking point last post, we have had a complete 180 in our toddler bed transition. He is actually taking naps in it and falling asleep at night in it. Our solution was easy really, it is what we have always done when tantrums or crying happened at bedtime. Let him cry it out. Staying in the room with him and doing what he wants did not solve any problems. We as parents are in control and he knows that. He learned very quickly over the weekend and the crying maybe lasts 5 minutes now. He may still try and prolong going to bed as long as possible, but we all know when he is tired. I also decided it was best to start our routine a little earlier so we can have more time to wind down and read stories so he doesn't feel like we are rushing him off to bed. Yes, sometimes he may try and pull some tricks like "I don't like my socks. Please take my socks off" so we will come back in one more time, but then he quiets down quickly. I now look forward to rest time and bed time again as a peaceful time and not stressful. Amen.
