2 weeks ago I started watching my friend Chris' daughter, Emma who is a year younger than Caleb, twice a week. I wanted to support her as a friend and a mom as she headed back to teaching high school and was in a bind for childcare. I am anti-daycare and wanted to reach out and offer my helping hand in hope that she could avoid that option. I also wanted to get the practice of caring for two children as Kerry and I are hoping to expand our family in the near future!
I must say that taking care of 2 is not as crazy as I had thought! I think I have lucked out because Emma is an extremely happy, easy going baby, plus she is not mobile yet so that makes a big difference! Caleb loves to play with baby Emma. The other day he was anxiously awaiting her arrival at our door. He likes to help me push the stroller on our walk, feed her bottle, read to her about the history of the Red Sox and also play! I am encouraged mostly by Caleb, that he will be an awesome big brother and a great helper to me! He has not shown jealously, but love and playfulness with Emma. Yeah, he may offer her some crayons for coloring which she decides to munch on or bang on the door for her to wake up from her morning nap, but its all in good fun! I have not attempted to take them both out in the car, we have stuck close to home as I am not quite ready to approach that road just yet if I don't have to!
