3 o'clock blues!

Caleb has been suffering a cold for almost 2 weeks now. Kerry and I just about a week. I guess I can take the blame for taking him to San Diego to visit my best friend whose daughter happened to get sick when we arrived. I feel so bad for him, yet he seems so happy with a runny nose and cough. It doesn't seem to bother him in the least, except for his 3am awakenings this past week. What is the deal? He hasn't been sleeping well during the day for his naps and when we put him down at night it takes him nearly 2 hours to fall asleep. Not crying, just babbling in his bed. This NEVER happens! I thought it could have been the Benadryl we attempted 2 nights in a row per the recommendation of our Pediatrician, but it is still happening! He wakes about 3am and just wants to babble. Not cry, but babble for maybe 2 hours. I know when I am sick, I like to get plenty of rest......Caleb however is the opposite! We just found out from a friend that rubbing vapo rub on the feet supposedly works. We tried last night, but when I read this morning about it online, you are supposed to put socks on apparently! Socks on tonight!

Caleb was terribly upset this afternoon, awakening from a very short nap so Kerry made an appointment with our Pediatrician. Turns out, my boy has his first ear infection on top of a nasty cold! He is on his first antibiotic and he loves the yummy raspberry taste! I believe this now answers my question above, What's the deal?

We haven't been much of anywhere the past 2 weeks as I don't want any of Caleb's little friends to get his awful germs! I just want my poor boy to get better and sleep through the night again! If anyone has any suggestions besides cool mist humidifier, vapo rub and saline nose drops, please let me know!
