Caleb is 1!

It is so hard for me to believe it was a year ago today that Caleb was born. Where does time go? We celebrated this milestone with family and close friends, but I think it was a bit overwhelming for Caleb. When it came time to try some cake, he nearly cried and pushed it off his tray. My little piggy didn't want to enjoy his cake in front of a crowd! With all of the commotion, we didn't really get any photos of us with Caleb during the party, but I remembered to take a 1 year photo with his delivery nurse, my friend Mandy.

The Picky Eater!

After returning from Boston, Caleb decided to put up a fight at meal time. It is always funny to me how my weekly baby newsletter I receive in my inbox is spot on with Caleb's behavior! Are they videotaping me? Just when we returned home it talked about the picky eater and now I have one! Caleb use to be so good! Eating anything I put in his mouth, saying nummy, nummy! Now he says nummy, nummy when he is hungry, but it quickly turns into hysteria when I try to give him a vegetable of some sort or any of the jarred mixtures he was quite fond of! I guess I'm having the first time mother freak out when my son will only eat certain things, but you worry about a pancake and banana diet! Just kidding, just kidding, just kidding. He really eats more of a variety, its those darn vegetables I can't seem to hide well in the applesauce. He is so smart!

I am on my last few jars of baby food which I will still attempt to feed him, because some days are better than others. Pediatricians do say by 1 year of age they should be on table food, eating what you eat. If Caleb is eating healthy, then I will too! It should be good for us both! Wish me luck!

Back from Bean Town :(

Okay, I will be honest. We did not want to return to AZ. I told Kerry we live on the wrong side of the country the 2nd day of our trip. Its such a beautiful change of scenery back east, I can't explain it. We left Cooperstown on Friday and again we had a bit of difficulty finding our way out! I am not sure what the deal is with that town, but the street signs are nonexistent. Luckily if they are posted, you don't see them until you miss the turn. There has to be an easier way!

We got into Plymouth, MA friday and met up with my family for dinner who was in the area for my cousin's wedding. We had planned to attend, but later found out that no children were allowed so we had to pass. Bummer. I did however get to enjoy a yummy Lobster and a Maine Blueberry Mojito! We met up again Saturday for a stroll around town, lunch and shopping. Plymouth Rock was all fenced up for construction, so I am glad I got to take a peek a couple years ago.......you know its just a rock with a fence around it right? Plymouth was gorgeous. My waterfront condo was available.........if only I could win the lottery!

Sunday morning we left for Boston in the rain. We knew showers were expected, but were praying to God that Caleb would be able to see his first baseball game at Fenway. We returned our rental car, hopped in a cab and headed to our final hotel, the Jurys in Boston. If you ever need a great place to stay in the city, I highly recommend this hotel. We have stayed there twice when we have been able to get a decent rate and we love it! As we walked to the T it was sprinkling lightly and our hopes for clear skies were getting higher. We got to Fenway and it started pouring! It is amazing how many fans will flock to this ballpark rain or shine! Red Sox Nation baby! Kerry bought us some ponchos as Caleb and I huddled under our umbrella. I was not looking forward to this game. I was amazed that the rain managed to cease and no ponchos were needed, that Caleb was able to enjoy his first ball game in the happiest place on earth......not Disneyland my friends. We finished our last night in Boston at Charley's on Newbury. Caleb tried some tomatoes and liked them.......Kerry was not so happy about this.

One more quick comment to make before I end. Caleb was able to take a quick nap before we headed to the airport on Monday. I had a jazz station on for background music and occasionally they would have an audience clapping. (Caleb just started clapping a few weeks ago) As I sat there in the dark I thought to myself, wouldn't it be funny if he started clapping too? Within a few moments of that thought I hear my sweet boy's hands.

Cooperstown, NY (Halfway thru vacay)

Since Caleb is taking a well needed nap right now, I figured I could update you on our trip thus far. Caleb (a.k.a AMAZING TRAVELER) flew great all the way to Boston! Luckily we had empty seats available so he could stretch out and not feel so cramped. We just had Tuesday in Boston and we walked through Boston Common and over to Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market to grab my first New England meal.....Fried Clams! Later in the evening we walked down Newbury Street and just admired what we certainly don't have in AZ! I love Boston because you can walk for miles and it only feels like a few blocks. I later enjoyed a nice bowl of clam chowdah and shrimp for dinner with a finale of creme brulee.....the best in Boston! (The restaurant is really called finale!) Heard about it on Unwrapped. I was telling Kerry it is amazing what you can learn on Unwrapped!

We got into Cooperstown Wednesday after what seemed like a never ending drive, thankfully it was beautifully scenic! My mapquest and Kerry's GPS failed us so it took an extra hour to finally get here from Boston. My favorite part of this adventure was when Kerry's Iphone GPS blinks that we had arrived at our hotel when both sides of the road were forest! You have to laugh at circumstances like these, but not too hard with a full bladder! We enjoyed a lovely stroll on Main Street, although most shops had closed down by 5pm for the day. We received a recommendation to eat at Doubleday Cafe which was spot on. Everyone in this town is so friendly :) They come up and start talking to you like you were old friends. We visited the Baseball Hall of Fame today which has been a dream destination of Kerry's the last few times we have visited back East. I finally caved and said, sure let's drive 4 hours (well, really 5 due to our failed navigation). I am not much for museums, but I have to say it was pretty cool to see Schilling's bloody sock! After Caleb's nap we will head back into town, meet up with Kerry (who stayed behind to admire more of the museum) and hopefully get another recommendation from some friendly folk on where to have dinner. Friday we are off to Plymouth, MA to meet up with family before heading back into Boston for our finale......RED SOX GAME!

Today we remember 9/11 and we happen to be in NY.

Off to Beantown!

If you have been following my blog, you probably know that Caleb is a great traveler, whether in car or plane. Well, this will be our test! We have a longer flight plus a 3 hour time change so we will see how well my boy does! If we could survive 4 hours on the runway, we can survive that in the air! We are headed to Boston on Monday for the week and will have plenty to share upon our return I am sure! Go Sox!
