Drum Fit

It started out real cute. We gave Caleb the Curious George drum and he starting playing. Sticks in both hands, like a real drummer. He fell backwards onto his head and began screaming. Owwww! I picked him up, rubbed his head for a bit and he continued crying. Then it escalated into a full blown fit! The worst Kerry and I had ever seen and he has had a few in his 10 months of life. Screaming bloody murder! I initially thought it was because he hurt his head, but apparently not. I sat him down by his drum to see if that was the reason for the tantrum and he immediately turned happy. He turned around, looked at Kerry and begins smiling, almost giggling. At that point I knew, my son had won. I had to face the screaming and take him away from the drum once again. Was it my mistake to sit him down in front of that drum again? Probably, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't because of his head. We walked away and I tried to calm him down, but the tantrum continued. What was a mother to do, be patient and wait it out? I have to admit this type of behavior scares me. Hysteria cannot be good for a baby heart. We eventually walked into the kitchen and he was calm. The drum fit had passed and he lost his privileges for a week. I hate to do it to a 10 month old, but he won't remember that drum until next week!
